Stardock Central: Come Chat With Us!

Using SDC's integrated chat features

Monday, January 15, 2007 by Island Dog | Discussion: Beginners

Everyone should know that Stardock Central is the enhanced download manager in which you can install and mange software products from Stardock.  In Stardock Central you can install/uninstall your Stardock applications, make archives of applications and skins, update your software, and more.

But did you know you can also use Stardock Central to communicate with other people in the community through either chat or forums?  Do you need a question answered about a Stardock product or website, then hop on into an IRC chat and ask away.

We have community forums for WinCustomize, Galactic Civilizations, Stardock, and more.  If you want to interact with our great communities you can also do that through SDC.

So how do you chat?  It's very simple, and I will do a quick tutorial to show you how!

Open Stardock Central, and select "Chat" from the menu on the left side.

You could simply just hit "Connect" and  you will be logged in to IRC as a guest, but you can also select "Settings" and configure it to your liking.  Here I will adjust a few settings such as my nick on IRC.  When you are done, just hit connect.

Some of the most popular channels on the Stardock servers, are #stardock, #wincustomize, and #poweruser.

If you want to join #stardock, simply type:  /join #stardock.

Now you should be able to chat and join in on the fun!

If you want to communicate with the community through our forums, it's just as simple.  Click "Discussions" from the menu and browse the various sections.

So you see Stardock Central is much more than a download manager.  You can interact with our various communities, manage your software, download skins, and browse the web with it's integrated web browser. It has become a essential resource on my PC, and I recommend everyone to try it!

I JUST walked someone through this process! I'll bookmark this article and make sure I send it to everyone who asks me about it. Thanks ID!

For those of you on JoeUser, did you know there is a #JoeUser? Once you're in Stardock Central just type /join #Joeuser and you'll begin chatting with us.

Imagine yourself, your new to this skinning thing. You are wanting to make some real nice skins. You can go to the chat and speak with the Masters like... MikeB314, I R Brainiac, Hippy, or SK Orginals. I is like having an online live tutorial right there while you are making your skin.
The Chat is where I received permissions from the artists to use some of there work. Where you can get just about any question you can think of answered. I always use the Chat, first, when I have a question.
Great post, IslandDog!
