Icons No Longer Load After Uninstalling Iconpackager

Thursday, January 4, 2007 by LovelyCrap | Discussion: Icons

I've had Windowblinds and Iconpackager on one of my computers for a long time. I recently uninstalled both applications because I am giving the computer to my parents and they prefer the default windows theme since it is familiar. However, after uninstalling both programs and reverting back to the windowsXP default theme, some of the icons no longer load. Most noticeably, executables no longer display icons and instead use the "unknown file type" icon. I have tried to manually set some of the icons and that doesn't always work. I have also tried to use TweakUI to repair the icons to no avail.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Did you set the icons back to default before you removed IconPackager?
If not, you'll need to reinstall the program, set the icons to default and apply.
Then you can remove the program.

Did you set icons back to default using IconPackager before you uninstalled it. If not you may need to reinstall, set icons to default (top of icons list) then uninstall again.
