Subscriber Blues

Saturday, December 23, 2006 by PoSmedley | Discussion: WinCustomize Site Issues

I have renewed my subscription to WC. However, the WC Browser says I haven't as does everything on the site that has to do with my account info. Yet, on my full profile, it says I am a current customer. As for the WC Browser, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, with no change. I also tried to cross-reference my WC account and my Stardock account, with no change. Am I missing something?

Did you receive the email link that has the serial # to enter into SDC?

I'm not at home right now, but I'm almost certain I had to enter a serial # for the re-subscription.

Yes, I received the link and entered the serial on the install. The first time it told me the serial was invalid, so I uninstalled the browser and re-installed it, entering the serial again. On the second try, I didn't get the 'invalid' message, but it just tells me that my subscription has expired and asks if I want to renew.

I think we're talking two different browsers here ...I mean the SDC browser that you use to download the software.

I really hope I'm correct in saying that there's somewhere in there that you enter your subscription serial # ...because I'm sure thats where I did it.

Hmmm...I don't use the WC browser, so it had to be in there.

I downloaded and reinstalled the SDC browser, The WC Browser, and the WC system tray. In the SDC Browser, everything works fine except for the WC stuff, which says my sub. has expired. The WC Browser is telling me the same. I entered all the serials from the confirmation emails.

You're entering the WC Sub serial in SDC and hitting update.....correct? Give this a shot: knock down ZA and try the sub update again......

I uninstalled everything and tried with ZA down and still get the same results. Even on the WC site, when I try to dl the A Special Gift for Wincustomize Subscribers! it tells me my subscription has expired as of 11/1/06, even though I renewed it yesterday and it's good for 2 years.

Even the WC Tray is messed up. It won't show any skins newer than those from 2004.

Use SDC, but instead of entering your serial No try just entering your e-mail addy.

Po' open up your SDC browser and join the stardock channel on irc

lets see if we can sort it out [if you like]

I'm at home now, so I can run thru' a few areas of my settings with you, to see if they match up.

[i may not be able to fix it ...but I'm willing to help if I can.. and it's quite possible that someone else there can help, too]

*Edit [If what Fuzzy said, doesn't work]

I'm getting all kinds of error messages on the update pertaing to auto-archiving now. I am going to un-install all three apps, reboot, and reinstall SDC then go to the IRC channel.

You'd be best off emailing [email protected] so the issue can be tracked.  Sending to individual employees can *sometimes* result in the email getting lost amid the flood we all get everyday
