I want to learn

I really want to learn to skin. I have been a subscriber since 2002 and never submitted anything. Tonight I submitted my first wallpaper and still don't know if I did it right. I'm in college for information technology, but for some reason, skinning is one thing I would love to be able to do. Can anybody help? If so, let me know. What is the first thing I do? I have been looking at everyone's work for years and love your work. So, what do you think? I know I can do this with a little help.

Skinning is a lot of fun i got into skinning a year ago and have loved it ever since i suggest you start with some simple logons and bootskins maybe an object dock icon too and then improve on your skills and move on to bigger things that take a little bit more time like WB

There are many tutorials available for you to start with. I would also recommend starting with making cursors, as it's a good way to start.
Browse through the list of tutorials and I'm sure you will find something of interest. Always feel free to ask for help if you need it.

Thanks, Island Dog. I have been a fan for some time. The tutorials are just what I need. I don't know, Koasati, which graphics editor do you think is good; I'll get it somehow. I am very happy you guys are helping, thanks a lot.

I use Paint Shop Pro 8 (sometimes version X). Lots of folks use Photoshop (there are several versions, but I don't know much about them) Others use Corel DRAW (mormegil is one of those) I would love to try it, but it's kinda pricey.
It doesn't matter so much which program you use, as long as you're confortable with it, and it supports layers. Try the trial versions.... Search for tutorials, so you can get familar with the program(s), and what it can do.

If it's WindowBlinds you wish to learn to skin, you'll need SkinStudio.
I'd suggest you purchase the full ObjectDesktop suite of apps [presuming you don't already have it] ...as this will give you access to most of the programs you'll want to use to customize your own computer, but SkinStudio also comes bundled with ObjectDesktop.
It's SkinStudio that will aid you in making skins, both for yourself, and sharing [if you wish to share your creations].
Get SkinStudio, open up a fairly simple WB with it ...and [after a while fiddling & tinkering] you'll see how it's all put together. From there on, you'll have a [basic] idea how to make your own.
You'll need a graphics program as well, obviously.
