Does such a thing exist?

a widget or a program that looks like a dtX object or a widget or just a regular icon but when you click on it a drop down list appears with other shortcuts in it, i'd like to have a single object or icon that i can click on that opens a drop down list full of shortcuts to all my games.

any idea if such a thing exists?

Yes, they exist, They are also pretty easy to make. Take a looke at teh theme gallery, see if there is something you like and could configure. Help is available.
If you are an ODNT subscriber, RightClick might do what you need fairly easily though.

Now I'm hoping these themes are fairly customizable, so that I can keep everything I have as it is and just add to it

Everything in DX is VERY customizable. It just takes practice
