Friday, December 1, 2006 by kenneth kenneth | Discussion: New Users

Well i downloaded win customize and changed my Logon screen. But it slowed my computer down dramatically and i can abrly even use it now. So i need help deleting it. I cleared all the things of logon studio and even uninstalled it but it remains and will not change back to normal!

PLEASE HELP!

You need to apply the original Windows logon before you uninstall.

(Also, how can something that only affects the login screen affect procedures after you log in? Sounds fishy to me... better scan for adware/spyware/viruses)

Well, hang on CerebroJD...

Well i downloaded win customize

I'm thinking if you download a whole website your system will slow down trying to sort it all out. I could be wrong.

isn't referring to LogonStudio or logons downloaded from WC. But, you may have picked up something from somewhere.

Reinstall Logon Studio, click the "Restore default XP Logon" button, restart your computer to make sure everything works ok, and then uninstall Logon Studio.

Logon Studio should not have anything to do with slowing down your system. I've made a ton of them, and have never had any kind of slow down problems...unless you count the few hundred times it locked up because I left out a comma when I was editing the uifile.

When i use the restore default xp logon it doesnt work. Ill restore it then restart my computer and the same one that i had chosen is still there.

Does any1 know where i can find the default one so i can download it? mayby a link?

but then wouldnt it be the same...just another downloaded logon screen..?

open LS

go to options, make sure randomize is unchecked
then click restore xp logon
when you click ok and it closes, press meta+L (windows key+L) and see if the default shows up

if it does, then restart and double check

The original XP logon is C:/Windows/System32/logonui.exe. When you use Logon Studio, it uses the downloaded logons but they are named logonuiX.exe, and it leaves the original intact, and XP uses the logonuiX.exe file. When you press the "Restore default XP Logon" button, you should get a message that Logon Studio will close and the default will be restored. If that isn't happening, then some files may have been corrupted when you uninstalled LS the first time. I don't know how you uninstalled it, so I can't say. If you installed LS recently, you should try a system restore to the day before you installed it and that should take care of the problem.

Another day in class, here, for me.
Learned more about Logon Studio just now than I thought I ever would.
[that doesn't seem to make any sense...  ...but I know what I mean.]
