Transfer my current dock to a fresh install of Windows XP

Saturday, November 11, 2006 by theKramer | Discussion: Docks

Hi there.
I have to do a reinstall of Windows XP. Its acting up for no apparent reason.
Usually when I do a reinstall of windows I reinstall all the Wincustomise and Stardock software, and then have to go through the tedious process of updating all the programs to what they were b4 I reinstalled.
This is especially so with ObjectDock. I have to go and create all the docklets again.
Is there any way I can save my current configuration and transfer that to my new install of ObjectDock, so I dont have to go through this tedious process again??
Thx.

I don't have the plus - I use the free:

OD cofigure
package theme
advanced

package your theme, save it to disk

you might also consider archiving with SDC for the programs: Link to Corky_O's Article

A good idea is to have all of the content of the dock... icons, docklets, backgrounds, in your OD folder, otherwise when you Reinstall Windows, even though you saved the theme, if the contents of the dock are not on your drive, and the icons aren't in the same place on the drive as they were before, they won't show up in the saved theme.

I usually just copy the whole OD folder to a CD or external drive, then copy it back after I reinstall OD.

Another suggestion is object dock stores the programs in the dock in ini files located in c:\documents and setting\[user name]\application data from there look for a folder called object dock or stardock and copy the files in there since they are the settings
