Of Mice and Men....

Was window-shopping the other day....maybe for a tiny mouse suitable for a Lappy....and wandered into 'Officeworks' to kill some time.
I found a MS 5000 wireless Explorer 2.0 mouse instead....price on it was $27.95 AUS...so I told the Sales person that had to be a mistake..... he scanned it and said 'no, it's listed as a run-out item'...so I ran out with it [as it were].
RRP price in Oz was/is $79.95 .....
Ya gotta love a bargain...

You got a better deal than I did, though.

And what a wonderful place it is....to 'kill some time'......
Went with my mother to Officeworks Brisbane to carry home a couple of x50 packs of folders for her filing cabinet....was there 3 1/2 hours while she went around looking at everything but....
Should've taken a pack horse...for the paper shredder; laminator; label maker; several packs of coloured printing paper to go with the new printer; packs of biros and blank CD's she bought in addition to....
Swore I'd never ever go shopping with my mother again (knowing her penchant to browse and buy to excess), but I was always a sucker for her 'let's have lunch' and fell for it time and time again....and to think, I'm moving back up that way Feb 07.
BTW...nice mouse, nice price.

...except....

Similar to when I first enquired about upgrading my 939 socket AMD 64 3200+ to a 4600+ dual core.....they were up around $600 -$800, depending on the store and which version.
When prices dropped I ordered and paid $480 up-front for an AMD 64x2 4600+ at my regular computer store....only to be told two weeks later it was no longer available (anywhere). Much the same thing, really....they advertised a lower priced item but didn't actually have it in stock, then said they couldn't get it, either.
They told me I'd have to go with the newer AM2 socket to upgrade....meaning I'd have had to replace my mobo and 3 gigs of DDR400 RAM as well. The mobo and RAM are less than 6 months old, so I enquired at a smaller store which GOT me the (NOT available anywhere) CPU I wanted for $420.
Not only did the much smaller store get me the unobtainable, they did for a much better price.
