The final release of Internet Explorer 7 is fast approaching … and I mean really fast … probably on October 18th … and will be delivered to customers via Automatic Updates starting November 1st, a few weeks after it’s available for download. Are your Web sites, extensions, and applications ready? Microsoft recommends that Web sites and applications be reviewed and made ready for the release of Internet Explorer 7 this month. Microsoft encourages all Windows XP users to download the new version to explore the browsing experience in Windows Vista and take advantage of the new security features that will help protect them against malicious software and phishing attacks. Windows Media Player 11 will be available via free download beginning October 24 and will enable users to take advantage of an elegant and intuitive user interface, a new level of online store integration, especially with MTV’s URGE service, and improved navigation for larger music libraries.
Help ensure your Web sites, extensions, and applications are compatible with Internet Explorer 7 by testing Internet Explorer 7 today and utilizing the following resources and tools to help you identify and resolve any compatibility issues:
- Install the latest build of Internet Explorer 7
- Prepare your organization using the Internet Explorer 7 Readiness Toolkit
- Ensure browser-based applications are compatible by using Application Compatibility Toolkit 5.0
- Prepare for Internet Explorer 7 to be delivered via Automatic Updates and Windows Update
- If needed, install the Internet Explorer 7 Blocker Toolkit to block automatic delivery
- Use the following additional resources to investigate and resolve compatibility issues:
- Visit MSDN (msdn.microsoft.com/ie) for supporting information
- Visit the IE team blog (http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/) to research, make inquiries, and provide feedback
- Microsoft recommends that enterprises are prepared for automatic delivery by November 1st

At some point, I will probably upgrade from IE 6 to this new build. However, at the moment my system runs just fine and IE 6 does everything it's supposed to and does so satisfactorily.
I really appreciate your taking the time to post all of the wealth of information that you have given us in this announcement. I had no idea that analysis programs are available for my PCs to see if they are IE7-ready. I've DLed and run the Vista diagnoses programs, but now that I know of the information and links to tools you posted here, I will certainly be prepared to make an informed decision as to when and how to upgrade, both my system and my browser. Invaluable information, and I thank you for posting it here for us.

I know Opera fans/FireFox fans won't use IE - however updated.
But, it's good to see that MS finally release a standard web-browser. Can't say at this moment how much secure it would be. I've never seen MS to produce any secure software ever. But, one thing I must say MS took too long time release one standard web-browser.

I never had a problem using the beta version of IE7 as far as it being compatible with Norton.

This may happen when IE is not the default browser of the system. Use "Set Program Access and Defaults" - the feature of Control Panel to make IE the default browser.

Finally Microsoft has released IE 7.
Download it, if you want.

Running IE7 and Norton together on my laptop and they seem to work fine, along with Trend Micro anti-spam.
