Tuesday, October 3, 2006 by Zoomba | Discussion: WinCustomize News
Yes, that's right skinning fans, more premium content! Today Stardock Design is proud to present the Liquidox Premium Suite, by PixelPirate. Here's the 411 on this stylish suite that's just packed full with an insane amount of content.
Liquidox Premium Suite - A suite as cool as liquid oxygen. This suite is loaded with everything you need to breathe new life into your desktop
This suite includes:
- A WindowBlinds Visual Style
- More icons than you can shake a stick at! Over 200!
- A matching boot skin
- CursorXP Cursors
- Matching Wallpaper
- And even a screensaver!
But wait, that's not all! Not only does the suite come with everything listed above, PixelPirate took it the extra mile and created so many matching application themes that we had to make an "extras" package to contain it all. So in addition to the suite, you'll receive Liquidox_Extras.zip, which includes the following:
- Application Icons for ObjectDock Plus
- ObjectDock Plus skins
- Logon skin
- Winamp skin
- Rainlendar skin
- Firefox skin
- Sysmetrix skin
- IconX package
- Sony Ericsson Z520i skin
- KKMenu Background for ObjectDock
- Additional Wallpaper
Screenshots:
| FREE BONUS - PixelPirate has been kind enough to write up a complete tutorial on how he created one of the icons for the Liquidox suite. He's given it to us to make freely available here on WinCustomize. If you want to see how a pro builds his icons, check out this great tutorial here. |

I really dont want to buy another suite that will take another week to download because the connection resets at 10 mbs at each attempt.
Noone addressed the issue last time .

I'm not sure what that means. Do you mean that you are losing connection after 10 megs are downloaded?
Do you use a download manager like DownloadStudio? When I was on dialup, I always used a download manager since dialup is very unreliable for large downloads (well, any download that's over a meg or so).

The connection gets reset (happens once in a while on page loadings also) which means the connection starts over and it was mentioned on another post that 'resume' is not allowed on premium purchases. since the connection resets and starts over, on the download that's considered a 'resume' which isn't allowed.

Now everything on my desktop insync
Well worth the money.
P.S. With the extras it is worth more than what you have advertised, But a more complete Suite like this one could go for $3 to $5 more in my opinion.

There was an entire thread on this that went on for over a week..I wasn't the only one that bought the suite and couldnt download it. The download for a dial up user was 88 minutes on the last premium suite . I downloaded it over and over again for days. So did others. Same thing happened to them - the download would get to 5mbs and say " finished " yet zip was empty. Most times it got to about 7 mbs then started over at 0 .
I ended up having my brother d/load it for me because he has dsl and he sent it in 2 zips. The only problem was the suite comes as a download manager theme and is 12 mbs alone - my email allowed the large download but most of the others having the problem couldnt recieve an email that large.
Yes we all tried a download manager but the problem is that Stardock doesnt have
a " resume " connection when broken and resets to zero each time. Noone ever replied on the thead I had started concerning this..

Ah...I had never seen that other thread and didn't hear any reports from tech support about the issue.
The server that they are currently on does not support resume because it changes the download links periodically to lower the rate of piracy.
We can switch it to a different server, and see if that helps.
It doesn't show in Stardock Central because it's not an activated product (hence the lack of serial number)

For what it's worth . . . I think every Stardock product should be in SDC. It's good marketing if nothing else.
Being able to re-download, archive, apply products is a huge assest. Why not include it for every product?

I understand your reason for this ..but its a catch 22 for people like me that like to purchase the premium suites...I spent days trying to download the last one - to lose the download when your 2 hours into it for a 7th time is very frustrating. Certainly there must be a better way to get the suites. I only asked my brother out of desparation at that point - was hard explaining to him what i wanted him to do because i had no idea what was in the zip. I have purchased essorants skin packs before and i never have a problem with those at all...so it must be the the larger size of the suites that causes this...

Update: We have moved the suites to a different server that will allow resume (so that a download manager will work).
We are currently upgrading and moving servers, so it won't be until next week before we can address the suites not being on SDC.

I do agree with Sir Zubaz though. It's nice to be able to have Stardock take care of backups - if you know what I mean. One of the big advantages of buying their software is not having to worry too much about catastrophes because it's all managed centrally. It would be really nice if Liquidox could be included.

They will be, soon. But, as I mentioned above, "We are currently upgrading and moving servers, so it won't be until next week before we can address the suites not being on SDC."
