Customising DUAL DISPLAY

What customisation is supported?

Sunday, September 24, 2006 by cybermessiah | Discussion: OS Customization

Hi guys,

Just about to install a dual desktop and was wondering what is the OD support for Dual desktop from the same computer....a few points I would like to know....

a. Will windowblinds extend its skinability to the windows on the added monitor?

b. Can I use gadgets on the new monitor?

c Will the Object Dock standard bar extend itself to the new monitor?

d. Can I use Sysmetrix on the new monitor?

e. Does IconX have support for Dual display?

f. A friend recommended a program called ultramon, which can create a new taskbar on the second monitor. Is this taskbar skinned by WB and if not, does anyone know of how to extend the WB-skinned taskbar across both monitors?

If anyone out there is using a dual display  in conjunction with OD and can answer these questions, I'll be eternally gratefull. Any tips that you have to do with this are also welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Questions A-F=yes. Your not really customizing your display, but your desktop.

A-F=yes

Exactly.

Everything you can do on a single monitor you can do with two monitors. Except one thing: Running a video in overlay modus may only work on one monitor, that depends on your graphics card.

F: I'd use ObjectBar and create a replica of the windows taskbar since OB is capabla of using the current WB skins.

With a Nvidia graphics card you can set in the Nvidia Desktop Manager the taskbar to be stretched over both monitors. If that works with other cards I don't know.

UltraMon does not support skinning, but otherwise works well.
