IconPackager Finalists...

The judges are still working on both the best overall WindowBlinds and best overall icon packages. It's so close and difficult to decide. But they are ready to let you know which of the icon packages are in the finalists. Stay tuned for the finalists for the WindowBlinds skins later today or early tomorrow. Final results will either show up tihs weekend or on Monday.

Ooooops,A Submit Error. Dear Frogboy, If U want to choose the finalists with the users votes U can't judge with these 32 votes. these Votes can't be a good index for a Exact judgment. I think the number of downloads for Each Ip is the Only proper way to judge them based on the users Opinion. Users don't have any say over the judges votes. The judges aren't likely reading this thread or the other thread. The point of the finalists was to show that yes, the judges are taking a very very close look and appreciating the amount of effort going in.

Popularity does not necessarily make a good skin. Let's take https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.asp?searchtext=&sort=Downloads&order=Descending&library=1 for an example. We see that one skin is wildly more "popular" in downloads than the rest. Clearly this is a superior skin! But wait . . . what's the title of the skin? Why, "XP Professional". Now, how many 9x users do you think came to WC and searched for "XP" and found that skin? 8 out of the top 20 skins have "XP" in their name. I doubt that this is a coincidence. If you actually look at it, yes, it seems well-executed enough, but IMO, it's nothing special. Indeed, its rating is only 8, and while the rating system does have flaws, it tends to provide a pretty good judge of a skin over the long term. Download figures are great if you want to know how many people have downloaded a skin. Other than that, there are better ways to rate a skin, including personal judgement, and that is the basis of this competition.

I think most user like an IP where most of the icons are included - like in Cadinal Skins - and not just the common ones - like Seed - and I also think that they want something nice to look at and that can be blue, black or gray but not light-brown! Megaton is black but the red light'n it up and makes it usable - for some skins! ThunderStorm is gray but, can I say, lightning up because of the flashtheme! Many of the IP's are very nicely done and there are others, beside ThunderStorm - which I understand are in the final(?) - should had been in the final but Seed! Over and out for this year! Someone sure will be happy!

I told these later when they choose an IP with the Size Of 1200kb for the silver medal.(An Impure 128format Icon Size is btw 40-60kb).so U can Guess How many Icons It have. But my discussion Isn't It.I say that how whiles I got a bronze medal and a 4th my Ip isn't in the finalists list ? I don't want to tell about the names.because they don't have any sin. LOL

Alright now I'm gonna be an a-hole... Mr farid nafar I don't understand why you are so upset over this - you should consider yourself lucky of winning that medal knowing that some of the icons contain parts that aren't your own work. Clearly you've taken one of Jairo's icons and used on the "Run" icon, further you've used parts from my winzip and winrar icon from my "Gloss" iconpack.
