Google-Analytics.com?

Just curious

Thursday, August 31, 2006 by Lantec | Discussion: WinCustomize Site Issues

Every time I open a page in the forum (haven't checked for the site) I see that it's contacting google-analytical.com

I didn't see anything about google in the Privacy Statement and I "assume" it's benign. However, since I trust google with my info about as much as I'd trust North Korea to run the local Nuclear Power Plant I was wondering why?

I use google analytics (http://www.google.com/analytics/) to track my site usage.
I also use it (google) for my ads.

I'm guessing it's one, the other, or both.

The Google Analytics stuff is really just website statistic tracking.  We use it to get an idea of how many page views/unique visitors we get per month.  It also does some data analysis for us and tells us things like the most popular pages, typical entry-points to the site etc.

There's nothing specific to users stored, and it doesn't scrape the page for text to place advertisements.  It's not spying on you, just recording for our own purposes which pages get hit how often.

Thank you both for the responses. I was just curious. I figured it was something along those lines.
