Network Signal Strength performance Meter

Hi, I'm sort of new to desktop x and have little knoweledge of jscript. I looked throught the performance meters 2 for a source that would return the signal strength of my network but I can't find one. If anybody knows which source or another way to find out the singal strength, it would be greatly appreciated.

There are some good ones out there. They use WMI not perfmeters.

Can anybody tell me how to go about using 'WMI'?
Or maybe give me the source of a gadget to learn from?

The objects above can be opened with DX builder and examined.

I tried, but those are all widgets so they cannot be edited ;(

Widgets can be edited.
Launch DX builder
Right-click on the systray icon and choose import, then choose the Widget radio button at the top. Double-click the widget. Right click and edit to your hearts content.

Hi Flash;

I looked at the widget coold not be found. Is there a name for it besides Radio?

I would also like to set s signel strength me with Green lines " cingular " heheh

That way my desktop would always know what signal I have from Knology.

This is very help full if the go down.

Hi Flash...

Wanted to let you know ther neither one would work.

There has to be a for wfi to see a certain site to get the signal strength.

The way they are doing it is just picking you network card, which mine is an Intel 100 mB card.

Now if there was a way to find one of the sites out there for speed on your connection then you could see the Bars turn green with the stregth.



On Knology they have a web page where you can test your speed, but you have to go to that page and do the test.

Any Ideas?

This is a pretty good Idea to make the bars and place the some where on your desktop to monitor.

Maybe you could ping a website, and use that to tell the strength of the connection?
