What is a good FREE PHP web hosting service besides Zendurl and Ripway?

Is it similar to ZendURL and Ripway? I'm looking at it now and isnt that to d/l the program and to make your own server? (I'm a real newb, sorry)

Yeah, I'm not sure that they don't provide free hosting ALSO, but e107 is a cms like PHPNuke and the like.

The two sites I use (both support GDI, PMA, and a wide varity of other things):

Funpic.org
It doesn't allow offsite linking, but it is a great host (at times... I despise the support they give... or lack there of). They say there is a limit of 5 MB hosting (unless you host a message board) but I have had an acount where I hosted over 100 MB of images for about a year and they said nothing. I eventually got rid of the pictures, but their 5 MB limit doesn't seem to matter .

Seems to redirect to addyour.net, but it still works. This allows offsite linking and everything else funpic allows. However, the only downfall (I know of anyway) is it is sometimes hard to connect to the FTP server. Especially when you offsite link. Otherwise its great. It uses Cpanel instead of PMA also.


Hope these sites do what you need . Both support the newset PHP versions, afaik .

(EDIT: Why the hell do the fourms make you use BB code, but convert it to HTML in the editing?? *sigh*... I fixed the links).

I tried that addyournet thing, but after I uploaded 2 files, it asked me for my name and pass, and when I typed 'em in, it wouldnt accept it!?!? But it was the right name and pass.

Why not just pay for one, munkey? You can't really expect to get something you'll be satisfied with for free. It'll either have ads or some other strings attached. Web hosting for the average personal site is really, really cheap.

Is it possible for me to set up my own server that will do PHP? And will I have to pay if I set up my own server. (I'm a real newb)

If you want to just set it up to learn PHP on, sure, you can do it for free on your own machine or a cheapo garage sale box. Just download PHP, Apache, and whatever else you need, like mysql, perl, etc., and set it all up. You'll want to make sure that no one outside your home network can access it for security reasons, and because the usual ISP will can you for it.

If you want the outside world to access it, you'll have to pay for hosting or colocation.
