IE7 - Life Without a Throbber

Is there no outrage?

Saturday, July 22, 2006 by aimzzz | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Opera doesn't have a throbber. I'm an Opera user, but I use IE for MLB Game Day Audio & a couple of other things that don't work in Opera. Recently I installed the IE7 beta & found that MS has made it much more like Opera, adding tabs and dropping the throbber, among other things. As indicated in the picture below, (1) there's a circle animation on the tab that rotates clockwise until the page rendering finishes. (2) Then the circle is replaced by the website favicon

Throbbers have been the subject of such passion & heat in WC forums that I have been surprised at the silence regarding this new development. Maybe people are still in shock and can't bring themselves to utter their words of anguish. Maybe there have been silent vows resolving never to upgrade to IE7. Maybe nobody cares. Maybe there is a throbber & I just don't see it. It's just that after the outcry when one Troll lost his throbber, I expected someone would say something about the end of the throbber as we know it.

Throbber removal tool here.....

OUCH! Sounds quite painful, even if it is reversible.

Nah, not for me....I'm placing great faith in those pharmecueticals and hoping they'll fix mine.

BTW, just for curiosity sake, that Throbber removal tool wouldn't be nicknamed Lorena Bobbit, would it?
