Screen Recorder

Monday, July 17, 2006 by broadway_dude | Discussion: Desktops

I'm looking for a screen recorder but I can't seem to find a good one.

Trial Screen Roecroders always have this water mark in the middle of the video, and I want it at least on the side.

If anyone can tell me a good screen recorder, please do so.

Thank you!

Most recorders will remove the watermark when purchased. The point of the watermark is to encourage you to support the developer/publisher. If the recording is important to you I believe that the right thing to do is to purchase one.

If you have PowerPoint 2003 there is a free plugin called Producer 2003 that might work for you.

This one looks pretty good: http://www.zdsoft.com/screen-recorder/ [Note: I have not tried it so I can't vouch for it.]

I use capsnapper.

You can capture in .jpeg, .bmp, png and .tiff. 8, 24 or 32 bit. You can include an alpha channel as well.

Thank you everybody!

I know why they have those watermarks but usually they have it smack in the middle and I don't want it in the middle. I don't mind having them, but not smack in the middle.

My point wasn't to make you aware but to encourage you to buy one you like or find a free one. Using trial ware for production level work is uncool. It can make you look unprofessional and discourages continued development of an app you like.

Brad was using MS Movie Maker to record tutorials on his computer, so it must be capable of doing screen recording.

I have a great one but I'm not sure what you are wanting to use it for. I use cam studio. It allows me to do full screen or part of the screen, a selectable box, get the screen with audio or not, also I can even set the framrates or make a stop motion photogaphy video with it. It dumps to .avi files though, but if you have a video editin program like Sony Vegas you can re-encode it to whatever you want.

Info on the program here...http://www.camstudio.org/
Download from here... http://sourceforge.net/projects/camstudio/

Let me know if this is helpful. If you are trying to get 3d recording then I'd use Fraps. Good luck.

For Windows, there are some screen recording applications like DemoCreator(30 days for trial version), Camtasia(Full function for 30 days trial but high price), Adobe Captive(Great but high price). Those are able to edit your screen recording before finalizing. The free ones such as Camstudio, Jing project just can record what happened on your screen. TipCam could be better if it improve its screen recording quality.
