Desktop Pets

Hello All!
Rightio.. The thing thats on my mind is making a Desktop Pet... The only way I can go about making the pet itself is to model it in 3D, set up the animations and the output the frames to individual PNG (mainly for Alpha Channel support) images, then use a tool like AniUtil to make the animation strip. Make a new object in DesktopX and set up different states for the different animations (i.e. "Walk" for it walking, etc) then use a Right-Click system OR text-command system to switch between states so it does different actions... Any thoughts on doing it this way would be helpful! Thanks
