Windows XP SP2 problems with ObjectDesktop
svchost.exe dies while shutting down the PC

Hi everybody, first time posting in these boards, and it's for a problem I can't quite make heads or tails of.
I've been using WindowBlinds5 and IconPackager 3.10 lately, and have been noticing some odd problems cropping up during reboots. I discovered the hard way that if WindowBlinds fails to apply a skin all the way that it causes the process svchost.exe to crash during the "Logging Off" or "Saving your Settings" phase of the shutdown process. However, there's one other problem that I noticed today.
After Automatic Update ran to get the latest Genuine Advantage Notification from Microsoft.com for Windows XP Service Pack 2, it asked me to reboot my machine. When I clicked Reboot Now, the system started to shut down normally, and right when it got to "Saving your settings" svchost.exe died, and the system locked up in mid-shutdown.
Has anybody else experienced this problem, and more importantly, does anybody have a solution for it?

Hmmmmm... so rolling back the active version of WindowBlinds to 4.6 solves this little problem with svchost.exe? Thank you, bratdimitt, I'll definately look into doing that if it gets any more problematic. But right now the problem I outlined is the only one I've had with WindowBlinds 5.
I guess my next point of inquiry ought to be about an alternative long-term solution.
Is the WindowBlinds 5 support team aware of this particular bug? And is there a patch or new version in the works that corrects this rather large and obnoxious program error? If not, is there any way to make them aware of it?

Ya sure, submit a ticket in the Stardock channel on the left side of forums here. You'll see it listed under Stardock Support and the last entry WindowBlinds. I too have had periodic problems with shut downs and startups. Though there has been no catastrophic failure, I've had to make adjustments. The best workaround I've found is to unload WindowBlinds 5 before shutting down, a small annoyance but, it solves the problem.
