Icon only taskbar with reserved screen space

I would love beable to ditch my windows taskbar, and have a a high quality, icon only object dock bar running along the bottom of my screen.
The thing thats stopping me, is that i haven't been able to make it, so that when you maximise a window, it doesn't take up the space that object dock resides in.
At the moment what happens, is that when you maximize a window, it takes up the part that Object dock covers, and goes under OB.
I don't want that. I want it to stop short of OB, the same way it does as if i had my taskbar there. At the moment, the only way to get it to behave how i want, would be to resize each and every window that i open...

Is there anyway to do this through Object Dock, or desktop x ?

Are you talking about Object Dock or Object Bar? You mention OB, but state dock, so I will assume OD.
How did you make the windows one go away?
via properties or via the dock?
Using the free dock, I can hide the window bar, tweak the size of the dock to fit in the space provided and the maximized window doesn't cover it. If I want a bigger dock, I set the taskbar height to double first.
You want your taskbar to be 'always on top' prior to hiding it.

ah... i forgot that OD could disable the start bar...

*EDIT i just tried what you said and it didnt work. The maximized window still fills the dock area, evne though i hid the start menu via the dock. I tried using both tab dock, and normal dock. Maybe it only works in the free version?

also just some comments:
1) you should beable to lock the dock inplace, so that if you accidentally click and drag it, it doesnt move.
2) you should beable to attach it to the side of the screen, AND prevent it from acting as a drawer.

did you go into the windows startbar properties and put it to always on top first?

Another method is to reduce the workarea with DesktopX.
In DesktopX Builder, Configure Panel -> Desktop Tab -> Workarea
Check the box and enter a positive amount for the edge your dock is on.
I like this way because I already use DesktopX, and not normally WindowsFX. I hadn't heard the hide taskbar trick, though, and that sounds worth trying out! There are so many ways to hide the taskbar, I'm not sure how I do it currently--but it doesn't stop maximized windows.
