Teething troubles
Wednesday, June 7, 2006 by RooneysToe | Discussion: WindowBlinds
Just bought Windowblinds 5 and having a few teething troubles:
1. Switching skins doesn't seem to 'take' properly, most times after switching things look garbled (particularly the taskbar/start menu) and I have to log out and log back in again to resolve.
2. Some skins seem to draw a border around running apps, leading to a flickering effect that effects performance when run full screen. Playing Oblivion is an example - I play this at my native desktop resolution, 1024x768. Right now I have the 'Royale Vista' skin installed, and on playing the game I see the border of the Oblivion window flickering in and out, and it slows the game to a crawl. Similar effect using the Aerial skin (my favourite). Other skins like Fresco don't seem to show this behaviour.
Setup: XP SP2 with latest updates, 2.8Ghz, 1GB ram, ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB video with latest Catalyst 6.5 drivers. Same problems with the stable 5.01 WB release and the latest beta.
Any advice?
