Sunken Objects that blend with Desktop

Need help on how to do this with objects on Desktops

Monday, May 29, 2006 by Automan | Discussion: DesktopX

Hey Folks;

I need help in understanding or seeing code that on certain desktop objects you can click on the edge and it will be sunken into the desktop and blend right in.

Can anyone out there help on this? I have seen it with Recycling bins, etc.

Thanks you folks....

A great example of "embedded" objects is Tiggz Killer stuff. His weather object rocks: https://www.wincustomize.com/ViewSkin.aspx?SID=1&SkinID=3317&LibID=3

According to his description the "magic" is done with semi-transparent pngs.
Notes: DesktopX weather object to accompany the Killer suite of skins. Has various display modes, the blended mode should work on any wallpaper as it uses png transparency to appear welded into the desktop.

Grab that, tear it apart and see what you can do for yourself.

Thanks, Z. That's one of my favorite effects of all time. Martin's digital clock also does that, as do Tiggs' GT3 widgets. I'll try "dissection" to see if I can figure it out.

Another easy (??) object is called Wall Crack by Martin ( https://www.wincustomize.com/ViewSkin.aspx?SID=1&SkinID=3471&LibID=3 ). And I still use the rip screen once in a while by Dragonkiss76: https://www.wincustomize.com/ViewSkin.aspx?SID=1&SkinID=3464&LibID=3

Might make for easier learning.

"Wall Crack"?! I've got to check that out just because of the name! Sounds like free-climbing, finger-jams...
