Working png files in themes

I would like to extract a png file out of a theme, work on it and then replace it.
Can this be done, if so how.

Thanks Double zero, but how do you extract the png file out of the theme to work on it in your graphics program?

if it is a png then it will open it whatever software you have set to open .png files when you double click on the file. In almost all cases you should be able to edit the image and save. Reapply the theme to see the changes.

Is the question, "How do I extract a single image out of a *.desktop or *.dxpack?"

1. open the desktop in Dx
2. open My computer
3. point it to c:\Documents and Settings\[username here}\Local Settings\Application Data\Stardock\DesktopX\Current Theme\
4. Look for the PNG file you want to edit, open in graphics program, edit and save it.
5. re-save the desktop in DX (you might want to exit DX before editing the PNG file)

But if you have DX you should be able to just copy the png, edit the new one, then open the object in DX and point it to the new PNG file.

Good Luck,
