Registry Changes Don't Stay?

I have edited most of the MUICashe (used for text through-out Windows XP Home) to change the text as I desire it. It works fine, no problems. After a while, all the text reverts back to it's original form 
. I currently have a .reg file I just click to reupdate the text, but this is kinda a hassle to do after each reboot/when the text changes by itself.
So I was wondering, is there a way to change the registry, and make it maintain the changes?
