Application of Icons within WB skins

Saturday, April 15, 2006 by Jumbuck | Discussion: Icons

When I d'load a new WB skin and it contains icons,do they self apply when the skin is applied, or do you have to apply them manually. Everything else seems to be ok except that part of the WB--the icons never appear and I can never find them Help.

Do you also have IconPackager installed? I believe that is required for the icons to be automatically applied.

Forgot to mention that you have to manually select the option to apply supplied icon packages in WindowBlinds Configuration - Basic Settings - Enhance Desktop Elements. And it indicates there "(IP required)" meaning IconPackager.

Thanks for replying Daiwa. Yes I have IP installed and the relevant box is ticked in WB configuration-Basic settings,"IP required".Can't think of anything else I could have left undone.

Do the skins your are downloading state that the IP icons are included. Very very few WBs included IP icons.
Some authors state which icons they are using with the WB, this however does not mean they are included.

Apprentrice Cavan1-- Thanks for replying.Yes some of the skins do state that they contain Icons, however I had not appreciated that some authors don't always use their own icons, and although in the screenshot they are not included.I am going to find a WB skin that states it has icons,d'load it and see what happens. Will get back to you,and thanks again.

Apprentice Cavan1. Just been browsing through the WB skins and found out something that doesn't half make me feel a right twit When I noticed the word icon in the blurb by the authors on their skins, I failed to notice the word preceeding it,and it was the all important "Toolbar" Sorry about that, but please see below--

rychian.-Thanks for replying, you will have no doubt read the above explanation, but I do appear to have a problem.Applied a suite I have, "Ecliptisco" by starone, and noticed that the icons have not self applied.Any ideas?

Hi there. I don't know about a suite apply as the suite was put together by someone else. Try applying the icon seperately (you can either install it in Iconpackager) or double click on the file and it will install in iconpackager. You can then apply the icons. Hope this helps. Oh, you may have to download the icons (in the icon section) and then install them.

Master starone-- Thanks for replying.I do everything that you suggest, but I thought the whole idea of the Theme Manager was to control everything from a central point.Anyway, thanks for your time.

Hey Jumbuck, I never use suites, I download all the parts for a suite I want and apply each with their own app when change theme. I do this as it seems every time there is upgrades to the site the urls used for most suites to download need skins get all changed around.
I am an Object Desktop subscriber so have most up to date version of theme manager, it is not downloading any skins for suites that use urls. I have logonstudio, installed in proper/default folder yet logons do not show up in theme manager. I am not sure why I even have it installed.

I too have the most up to date version of TM and have the same issue with logons not showing up....to get around this I manually add them by going to the LogonStudio folder via the add button and clicking on the Logonstudio file for eack logon. If there is no logon file present for a particular logon you wish to add to TM> open Logonstudio> scroll to desired logon> select it then click export to create one, say in My documents> then move it to your logon folder for TM to find it.

Hopefully Stardock will update TM to address this issue soon. Also, since WB5 was released, I've had issues with TM not applying more recent blinds, and some older ones in various suites I created using 'save desktop as'. They worked okay in WB 4.6, so I'm hoping for a Thememanager update to be able to use them and create others with newer WB's.

Thanks Apprentice Cavan1 and Sir starkers for taking the trouble to reply.I also am a Object Desktop subscriber, but a fairly "new boy" so still feeling my way as it were. Thanks for telling me you have probs with TM as well, makes me feel a whole lot better yes Sir s now that you mention it, I had WB4 and everything was ok,but not in the newest version of WB5. Apprentice Cavan1, I think I'll start doing what you do and that is,ignore suites and d'load everthing I need. Here's hoping Stardock sort out the probs with TM.
