IconX - Is it me or the program?

Sunday, April 2, 2006 by sophiesboy | Discussion:

I just downloaded IconX - I thought I would give it a try and compare it other programs like Avedesk etc to see if it would become part of the suite of programs I use -

I just want to know if I am missing something really obvious here - Is there no option to select within IconX that adds it to the normal suite of programs that activate at startup (the way Windowblinds or ObjectDock do)?

Before I go through a process of trying to put the program in the Startup file, I thought I would check to see if I am missing something here - it seems to me that, absent this option in the IconX program, the only way to use the program is to select it manually once my computer boots up, thus added unwanted effort (can we say lazy?) or to start playing with the startup files.

Comments appreciated

There is an option like that. However I can't bring it up because I can't get it to install anymore!

There is a run at startup check box on the options tab.

you can always: start > all prgrams > startup - open it, then right click, new shortcut - browse to iconx

there wre issues before with the run at startup for iconx disappearing if you had dtx running at startup

I guess I need to try an uninstall/reinstall -
I see no such option on any of the menus in the "Configure IconX" popups

Is this the shareware version? If so, ".... the shareware version disables animations and doesn't save changes between start-ups."

I'm facing this problem with the new version of IconX as there is no "run at startup check box on the options tab" of this new version.
I used to use that option at the older version and everything was running smoothly.

Try a uninstall and reinstall. The checkbox is on the option tab of the config for the paid version.

I have the shareware version 1.10 and it does have a button for Run at Startup. The program doesn't protest when I select it, but I haven't actually tried a reboot to see if it works. However, when I make certain changes I get a prompt that says no changes will be saved in the shareware version, so it's pretty useless as it is.
