Right click on your taskbar and select Properties. Click on the Start Menu tab. Click on Customize and then the Advanced tab. Under the Start menu items: select "Don't display this item" on the one's you don't want showing. Then click OK and Apply.

Hope this is what you were looking for.

not, i just want to remove the icons NOT the text and shortcut.

yes there is ........

right click yer desktop, click properties, click appearance....click advanced....
bottom left click "other advanced controls"
in the "ITEM" drop down box choose icon......

now if yer using a vista like skin (say Vislumbre 5308 by Butch123)
change the size to 37....that werks for me!!

if its not what you like keep trying and changing the number you'll find the size yer lookin for!!
