I think it may also conflict with DesktopEarth, which runs via active desktiop.
Typical problem is parts of the screen flashing occasionally to show part of the underlying window desktop. This also seems to cause game slowdown. I've also had the system tray flashing through the game.
Hardware used: Geforce 6800 GT, Amd 3500, 1024Gb RAM
S/W: Windows XP, latest official nvidia drivers.
No other games I have conflict with these programs... I've posted this to the Elder Scrolls official forum too as I think its more likely their bad coding... In the meantime I guess I'll have to unload everything before I play the game.

I notice all those apps use alpha blended transparency.
I am sorry to say that given it impacts so many apps it seems likely that it is a bug in the game and the game is simply not fully XP compatible.
Their developers need to try it with a layered window on screen.

I found that some skins are worse than others but the all seem to slow down the game.
my setup is
Pentium4 3gig 2gig Ram x800xtpe 256mb. xpsp2
