The Apogee Icon Suite!

IT'S HERE! IT'S UPDATED! IT'S INCREDIBLE!

Thursday, March 30, 2006 by Frogboy | Discussion: WinCustomize News

Famed icon artist Paul Boyer (Mormegil) has completed his latest icon masterpiece. And holy cow is the final version incredible!

The Apogee premium icon suite includes over 200 unique icons in 15 different color variations.  Each icon supports every major (and minor) icon size from 16x16 all the way up to 256x256.

The attention to detail on each icon is beyond compare.  With native support for the new Windows Vista icon format, Apogee will not only work great on your Windows XP system today but it'll be ready for Windows Vista as well.  Each icon has also been designed so that it looks good at different resolutions. At 256x256, the icons are good enough to be used as clip-art (for private use) and yet still are recognizable and crisp at 16x16.

The Apogee suite is only $9.95 for new users. Object Desktop users can get it for $8.95.  Considering the sheer amount of content you get, this is probably the best skinning/theme/icon deal that's ever been released.

As good as the screenshot looks, they're even better once applied to your system.

I have a question that I just have to ask though, because I am a Corel Draw user my self (not even close to your caliber of course) but, I just have to know, DID YOU COMPLETLEY CREATE EACH PART OF EVERY ONE OF THE ICONS WITH COREL DRAW ONLY?

If you did, that is amazing! And I see just how much I need to learn, (DO YOU TEACH?) LOL! I’m for real though I would pay to learn properly.

firstlight,

Paul (Mormegil) treated all of us to a great tutorial which walks you through the creation of a full set of icons (at the time ) using CorelDRAW. You can start here http://mormegil.wincustomize.com/Articles.aspx?SID=83&AID=64104

If you go to his site here at WC (under the "Sites" tab), you will also see a link to the "CorelDRAW for skinners" videos which are a part of the wonderful tutorial.

Have fun with it, I know I am.

Paul,

The "Denim" Control Panel (icon #7) is missing the 128x128 size.

Just happened across it while exporting as ".png" for my dock.

Can I make a request -- can you make an icon for the Cursor XP application? That is the only one that is missing that I use a lot!! Thanks again! Definately worth the wait!

Goodvibes, I will look into this, It seams to be working here, it might have something to do with what program you have assocated with MP3. Just to be safe please make sure you have the latest version of IconPackager. Please email me if it continues to happen.

Thanks Paul i have the latest iconpackage 3.1 and i had my mp3 associated with winamp. My winamp is the latest 5.21 so i swapped the mp3 association over to windows media player and all is working perfectly now. Must be some conflict with winamp that was causing the mp3 icon to not load correctly.
Thanks again Paul your help was greatly appreciated.

Paul, you have no true rivals or competitors, but how on earth are you ever going to compete with yourself!!! This icon suite is beyond comparison and is gonna take a gargantuan effort to improve upon it

When I view my Favorites, all of the Internet Shorcuts are using the Apogee .AIF icon. I've tried everything and the only way i can get them to change is by doing each file (shortcut) individually or by assigning the wrong icon to the .AIF file type. Any ideas?

I have had that problem in the past. But if I load the base pack, it seams to solve it. It is a glitch with IP, I am pritty sure they know about it.
