bootskins issues

just wanna ask, what software can i use to edit my pics in order to have a decent colors in bootskin? when i edit it to 16-bit, it loses color. please help!

Images must be 16 colour 4 bit bitmap for bootskins, so there is going to be colour loss.
I use IrfanView to decrease images to 16 colour, I have found it does a better job than PSP X, PS and Gimp.

still,,,, having problems after using irfanview..... i got a lousy pic. anyone using diff. software with gret outcome like the one's in the bootskin download section?????

If you are using a progress bar, it must be 16 colour 4 bit bitmap using colours of the 16 colour palette of the screen image.

tnx.i already try it,,,,, still,,, it has lousy colors!!!!! but when i remove the progress bar, the pic is ok. i'm getting frustated. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!
