Another bug in IconPackager
option Control Panel icons

Since a few time, i got a trouble on my PC (XP SP2 Home Edition French). I got apparently as a random way, 2, 3 or 4 times icons for "Network Setup Wizard" and "Wireless Network Setup Wizard" - well i think it's how they're called in english - (same number for both of them just because the applet or .cpl for these is the same: netsetup.cpl) in the Desktop Panel. I searched the Web everywhere and for a long time what should be the origin of that trouble without success.
I just had to reinstall my PC and those various number for these icons had disappeared ... unless i installed IconPackager
Though the trouble is for sure linked with IconPackager and more particurarly (that's what i think) with checking the option for skinning the icons for "Control Panel" in the settings of IconPackager ... (the trouble may come also from the "inetconfig.dll" used by IconPackager, not sure ...)
Though i unchecked this feature, reboot the PC and that's OK, i get only 1 icon of "Network Setup Wizard" and 1 icon of "Wireless Network Setup Wizard".
Unfortunately, even after choosing to NOT get skinned Icons for Control Panel, they still are (for the ones who get icons in package ...)
Should this annoying trouble be fixed Mister Stardock ?

This forum is not Stardock support. This is community support.
Perhaps no one else is having your problem and cannot help.
Go to stardock.helpserve.com and create a case. Provide IP version, OS version (and language).
Wait for autoreply email.
Follow any instructions.
After a reinstall, icons were missing? Installing IP restored them? But then wouldn't "unskin" some.
It sounds like you were having problems before IP got involved.

If you read my first post here, you can see it was on a "new" install of XP and this trouble is coming just after installing IconPackager
You're talking that this forum is not Stardock support, sorry but it's called like that ... "Stardock Support\Object Desktop\IconPackager"

Forgive me for any confusion due to language, but it sounds like you were missing icons BEFORE you installed IP.

Okay... I think I get most of this now.
You're using Classic View in Control Panel - i switched t classic view. Had rebuilt cache, restored defaults - then I unchecked control panel - 'skinning' Folder Option and Fonts are not by 'control panel' it's 'folders'

That's another problem i'm talking about for years i think ...
What is default ? for IconPackager default means "Windows" default icons ... BUT as soon you install some apps, icons are changing with these apps icons, (unless you uninstall the application). IconPackager doesn't care of that point and overwrites applications specific icons files associations by windows "initial" ones. It's quiet boaring because if using the function "restoring default" you have after to "handly" rebuilt correct associations with icons of your applications. (a few hour generally to do that ...)
Want just an example to make me clear ?
.jpg .jpeg files have an icon under initial Windows installation which is coming from C:\Windows\System32\shimgvw.dll (as a lot of images icons) but when you install an "picture viewer" or "design software" and associate .jpg .jpeg etc. to this app the "Default System" icons BECOMES these ones and no more the ones coming from C:\Windows\System32\shimgvw.dll. Of course it's just ONE example, and this rule goes for a lot of files associations (mostly images in general, but same for media players as a second example)
So it would be a great thing if there should be a difference in IconPackager features between restoring "Windows Initial defaults" and "Current System default" Developpers know about that, i told about it a lot of times ... but it seems no one cares ...
When that point will be corrected, i think IconPackager will be great and working better
Sorry, but my level in english is not enough to understand what you mean, apart that i use effectivly a "detail display" for folders and control panel
