Strange interaction: WindowFX & VirtualDesktops

When I use WindowFX and VirtualDesktops together, windows are lost everytime I switch desktops. In addition, a lot of flashing/redrawing occurs on windows in the current desktop just before the switch occurs.
If I turn of WindowFX, then VirtualDesktops works correctly.
