Logon Studio - Any Help at All?
Will Not Work or Uninstall
Thursday, March 2, 2006 by celadonX | Discussion: Life, the Universe and Everything
I realize there is no official support for LogonStudio but I was hoping someone had some experience with it and could suggest something. The program tells me my selected Logon has been applied but on re-boot I freeze on a blue screen. I want to uninstall it and try a reinstall but the program will not let me...control panel and the Start Menu Item>Uninstall LogonStudio both say it is uninstalled, but it is always still there. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks Much,
celadonX
PS. I had used StyleXP for about a year and wonder if this could have any relevance as it did manage my Logon Screens. StyleXP is still installed but Disabled ( and I've disabled the StyleXP service that still runs even when you disable the program )..just a thought.

I've had quite a time with it but was able to 'uninstall' LS by deleting the files and using RegCleaner functions. (Being in Safe Mode did not help uninstall). After reinstalling, when I hit "Apply" in LS, WindowsXP locks me out of the computer and I must enter my logon password to get back in - where LS is still open. The new Logon Screen was not applied.
I checked a bunch of things, then tried the same thing in safe mode, and although it still locks me out, the new Logon Screen IS applied. Very weird.
So I can change my Logons now, but it bugs me not knowing why using LogonStudio locks my PC. Everything in User Accounts seems fine.
If you've heard of this happening to anyone else maybe you could let me know?
Thanks for the Safe Mode idea,
celadonX

Try re-enabling stylexp and changing to the default logon then disable it and instal Logon Studio, choose logon and be happy...LoL

I hadn't uninstalled StyleXP - just disabled it ( and that pesky service which still runs after it's disabled ). So I will re-enable it, restore everything to XP default, go into Safe Mode and uninstall it. I suppose I'll use CC if LogonStudio still malfunctions, although I've found it cleans things I don't consider 'crap'.. Thanks again for the suggestions, happy skinning, CX

Install loonstudio, choose a different logon to apply. Apply.
Reboot.
If it works, great. YOu can keep the logon or set it to the windows default and THEN uninstall LS.
Good luck
