Bring back 'shadows fit window shape' option

Friday, February 17, 2006 by Garion2K | Discussion: WindowFX

Before WindowFX 3.0, there used to be an option to make shadows fit the shape of the window under the advanced settings for the shadows. I can't seem to find the setting anymore, and now I get a rectangular area of white at the top right corners of my curved windows. Enabling that option in the previous version made the transition to the shadow smooth and there was no white space. Any chance this option can be brought back? Or am I missing something?

What skin are you having this problem with?

WFX 3 will automatically enable that feature when its needed.

I've got a dollar says it's a per-pixel skin.

I haven't had the problem on any per-pixel skins that define their own shadows. I don't know if it's happening on any non per-pixel WB skins because I haven't used any recently. It does happen on MS Visual Styles though, such as the default XP theme and pretty much every other Visual Style I've tried (using a modified UXTheme.dll). I have a few favorite skins so I end up alternating between WB skins and various Visual Styles. I end up reverting to WindowFX 2.11 when running Visual Styles instead of WB.

Is there a way to provide the option as an override, or to somehow detect when a Visual Style is being used instead of a WB skin and allow the option?
