WinFX 3.0 beta: Animations without WindowBlinds skin

Tuesday, February 14, 2006 by MoRPheus206 | Discussion: WindowFX

Just downloaded and installed the WinFX 3.0 beta, and overall it looks great!
But I have some of the same problems reported by MichaelBe: No shadows, no transitions, no dragging effects...

I also have a problem with the window animations effect (currently using "Expand and shrink to desktop", but same problems with other effects): If a program is not skinned with WindowBlinds, and the program display other windows (like "Are you sure? yes/no"), those windows are animated with the skin, and then the skin is removed, typically leaving the window not correctly drawn and resized incorrectly so you can't click the yes/no buttons.

Example: I'm using Delphi to develop applications, and Delphi is excluded from using WindowBlinds skins. When running the application from Delphi, it inherits the WindowBlinds exclusion and don't use skins. But the various windows it opens are skinned while being opened, and then removed. It runs correctly if I start the same application directly (not from Delphi), or if I disable the window animation effect in WinFx.

Another example: I'm using Lotus Notes, which is skinned by WindowBlinds. But when opening various windows in Notes, they have the skin when opening, but are removed when the animation effect ends. Might be that Notes somehow prevents the skinning of windows?
