WindowFX 3 Crashes Explorer

Task Switcher feature

Sunday, February 12, 2006 by jmontesi4 | Discussion: Stardock Support General

I tried several times and every time the effect was the same.
I tried to 'switch' with no applications on the taskbar (apps were minimized on the system tray), Explorer crashes.

I used different key-combos but the problem remains.

In addition, I get 5 'screens' on the switcher, with dupled windows. (ie: If I had Notepad open once its shown 5 times), is this behavior expected or something is not working right?

Sys: Windows XP/SP2, WindowFX 3, NVidia GeForce4 MX 4000, Forceware 81.98

Couldn't edit my post (webpage error).

Forgot WindowFX's version: WindowFX 2.89[b].003

Edit:

I've been cheking the crash data. The crash is caused by a Division by Zero error on wfx.dll... hmmm Zero Apps on task bar?

Ihave a similar problem from time to time. I reformatted my hard drive at one point and it seemed to solve it, but now it's back again. At first it only crashed explorer every once in a while, but now it is frequent. I have a Nvidia 7900 with the latest driver.

Are you sure you have the same problem?

The divide by 0 error was an issue in the beta releases of WindowFX back in early 2006.  It was fixed before WFX 3 came out.
