Widget drive meter pegged at 100%

My Widget drive meter had been working fine. Somehow it got pegged at 100%. It was at 8%. I checked, and that is where I should be. I removed it and reloaded. No change.
When I have been tweaking I have on several occasions had my CPU go up to about 50% and stay there until I restart my computer. Any ideas as to what would start running me so high and not stop?

I downladed desktop Aero-XP and the drive meter with it works fine. Widget still pegged at 100%. Any ideas what the problem is?
Were you talking about my CPU problem being a hardware problem?
