Creating a Bootskin
I'm getting inverted colors

Nah...it's every time it 'needs' to be repeated.
So often confusion arises as to what 16 colours is....[it's not 16 bit]
or...
What exactly a 'palette' is, and why they need to be the same in both images...

Bootskins must be 4 bit colour....that's 16 colours....only.
The bootskin 'image' and the progress bar image MUST have the same palette.
You can use ANY 16 colours....but if you have a different palette in each it will [usually] appear 'negative' or colour-shifted/screwy.
Again...
The MUST be the same palette.
And....don't forget....
The palettes must be the same...
