Creating a Bootskin

I'm getting inverted colors

Thursday, February 9, 2006 by actmeister | Discussion: Stardock Support General

This is a great program. But when I try to create my own Bootskins, using Photoshop Elements 2.0 I have a problem with color inversion. The bootskin preview looks fine, but the actual bootskin looks like a color negative. I thought maybe it was just me, but I downloaded a bootskin that did the same thing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Bootskins must be 4 bit colour....that's 16 colours....only.

The bootskin 'image' and the progress bar image MUST have the same palette.

You can use ANY 16 colours....but if you have a different palette in each it will [usually] appear 'negative' or colour-shifted/screwy.

Again...

The MUST be the same palette.

And....don't forget....

The palettes must be the same...

Jafo; but if it is you that mentions this more than the rest of us how can your right hand paying your left hand make you any richer.?

Nah...it's every time it 'needs' to be repeated.

So often confusion arises as to what 16 colours is....[it's not 16 bit]

or...

What exactly a 'palette' is, and why they need to be the same in both images...

That's great! thanks for the tip. It raises a new question though. Am I out of the woods if I don't use a progress bar?

Thanks Again,
