WB 5.0 Problems with Minimizing Windows going into Notification Area

Windows Minimizing doesn't show up in TaskBar

Wednesday, February 8, 2006 by RFENGR | Discussion: WindowBlinds

I have been using WB 5.0 for a while now, and have had good performance.

Recently, maybe with the latest update, when I minimize any program window, it puts the icon in the system tray (notification area) on the StartBar, and does not display in the Taskbar anymore. If I minimze by clicking the button in the taskbar, the item remains on the taskbar, but if minimize by using button on the title bar of window, it hides it on the taskbar and puts an icon in the system tray. This get annoying quick. I cannot find any setting in the UI or WB that would control this. Unloading Windows Blinds and using the normal shell returns to regular performance. BTW: I'm using the Aura skin.

Open WB config.
Click on "User overrides".
Take a look at the last checkbox in the "Advanced Settigns" section.

You want that unchecked.

Nevermind, I see which option you're talking about.  Problem solved.  I swear I went up and down that list and didn't see it before.  I recall seeing something like it, but there it was staring me right in the face.  When you mentioned "Advanced settings" I pressed the "Advanced Settings" button and was reviewing the checkbox there.

I am glad you resolved the problem. Nextr time I'll add a screenshot.

Stardock has a habit of adding preferencs and configs all over the place. -=sigh=-

After updating to the most recent WB5 beta version, I found that the minimizing button on any open window minimizes the window to an icon in the notification area. (This is what you are talking about, I think.) I have never seen this feature before, and find it quite useful. But I cannot see how to switch back to my previous Windows minimize-to-taskbar-button option.

NB. The minimize-to-notification-icon plays havoc with Norton System Doctor, and it seems any combination of taskbar button, or one, or two notification icons are possible depending upon exactly what you are clicking on.

Henry,

In the WB config, User overrides, is the box indicated checked or unchecked?
