Uninstalled WindowBlinds. Reinstalled WindowBlinds 4.51. Downloaded the above again, but still no substyles. The substyles for other skins show up ok. What could I be doing wrong?

Hm, I really don't know and I'm sorry that it doesn't work for you:(. The *.wba file should be about 3 MB large (the "old" one was much much smaller). I assume you did try resetting your PC? Other than that... well, I do not know if that is even possible, but maybe there's something wrong with your browsers cache and you are still being transfered to the old version instead of the updated one...?

I cleared my cache and emptied my recycle bin, downloaded again, and it worked! 
Maybe you were right. Thanks for the suggestion. Looking forward to any updates you do with this skin. I noticed that with the compact start menu the icons appear but a little bit of text appears too. Is that something that needs to be tweaked? Or do I need to adjust something?

My guess is your icons are at 48x48, while the compact menu is set for 64x64. So you can either resize your icons or... well, I don't want to create another set of substyles in order to keep the skin file as small as possible, so I guess I'll make a separate release for the transparent compact menus and include a 48x48 version.

absolutely love this wb, nice and dark, and matches just about every background i have.

Try opening your eyes.
The skin is loaded with unreadable text and fonts. No its not windowblinds. I know what I am looking at. A perfect example would be the button I am about to push to send this comment. Isn't there supposed to be text on it?
Try lightening up the buttons and backgrounds to make the skin usable. Hope it helps.

Well, as I said - I don't have any such problems. My eyes are quite well, thank you very much. And so is my "Submit" button. If you want to BE of any help, try posting a screenshot.

I really appreciate this, but... are you actually complaining about not being able to read the "Created by" section...? As for IE, I allready explained that I don't use it. And I honestly don't know why you have scribbled all over the programs pane... because of the arrows? Man, you're one to talk;):

You seem to know as well as I that dark themes are a little tricky;). I could, of course, change the buttons, but that would mean reconstructing the whole concept of the skin and that I will not do. So thank you for the ss and I hope you'll find my next skin more to your liking:).

I am reluctant to sound critical because this really is one of the best looking dark skins around, but when I said "dark text on dark backgrounds", I was not talking about the "created by" text. Look at the captions of the check boxes and radio buttons to the left of "what does this say" on Night Train's screen cap. You have black text on dark gray. This is not completely unreadable, but is at least somewhat user-hostile. It's very difficult to use dialog boxes when they look like that.

I get your point, but the only solution would be to make the tabs pane white (I can't make the font any brighter, as it would become unreadable in most Office apps), and I'm not sure that's something I want. But I'll see what I can do. Thanks;).

I can tell you from experience, it's not easy to make a dark skin that is usable as an every-day skin. Too many applications use hard-coded text colors, and there is nothing we can do about it. Firefox is notorious for this...especially with the default skin. Any black skin will suffer from these issues. Other than that though...the skin looks good. Let's see more...

Sorry man, but the black text on black buttons in IE renders this skins completely un-usable, i don't know if you have the same issues in firefox but to say "uhh i dunno i dont use IE" isn't good enough rationalization to explain away such a horrible bug.. to say oh my ! i'd have to completely redisign the whole concept also isn't a good reason,its pretty simple man.. just lighten the buttons, at LEAST 75% of us use IE as well as other applications that hard code black font for their buttons. If you expect to be taken seriously you should give major issues like this some credance instead of taking the easy way out. Listen to some people who have been doing this a while, and take note
