I think if you used set selection on the outer ring of that shape, the glow effect would have worked better.( Select polygons-(ring select) menu:selection/set selection..apply. apply material to object/ drag to (selection properties)/(selection). 4yr/C4D user.

Thx guys! ... firebrick, thx, glow looks fine to me tho. this was just a quickie. When I've been at c4d for 4 years I might give it a shot mate
