Oh, by the way I was thinking about this weekend, NO not that way!!!! My DVD drive in the computer died this weekend. Did the trouble shooting thing using Windows, showed that the drive was working but it wouldn't read anything. I uninstalled and reinstalled the hardware, reset drivers and all it did was blink it's light at me. Oh, and I ran one of those cleaning disks also. I order another one. Nothing fancy just a DVD/ROM - CD/ROM drive. I still have a CD/RW in the computer so I'm not totally out of business.

Philly, go into your Windows Explorer, right click the DVD drive Properties, Recording tab and see if it's initialized for recording, if it isn't then just click on ENABLE.
Mine does the exact same thing, the drive is recognized, but if Recording isn't enabled it just won't work!
Let me know if this works for you...
