Wow, this is one cool screensaver!! I'm wondering though, what would be considered a good frame rate? I have an ATI 9800xt w/ a screen size of 1024x768 and I'm getting around 60-62 fps. It seems to run smooth, but I was just curious.

Thanks! I'm really glad you like it

If you're getting 60fps constantly then that almost certainly means its running smoothly - but it's limited by your monitor's refresh rate. In other words, its drawing to the screen as fast as your monitor can keep up. I have my monitor set to 75Hz and so I get an fps of 75 when running this 'saver.

Thanks for the info. I did set my monitor (Dell 1702FP) to 75Hz and got an fps of 75-77. I'll have to read up on the pros and cons of changing the default 60Hz refresh rate...such as its effect on my eyes, games, the hardware itself. Either way, I'm sure that I'll be using this screensaver for some time!

Higher refresh rates are better for your eyes, but worse on CPU/memory. I have mine at 120 and this runs at 110-120

I think a higher refresh rate reduces the life of your monitor, too.

60 Hz looks great on my LCD monitor, but not so great on a CRT. I ran 75 Hz on my CRT.

Thanks for such a great compliment! *blushes slightly*
I'm really glad you like Heart of Magic. I definetly plan to make more screensavers in the future but I don't currently have any ideas. You'll have to wait and see...

Meowzah: Right-click on your desktop. Open the display properties dialog (at the bottom of the menu). Select the screensaver tab at the top of the window. About half-way down and on the right you should see a button marked "settings". I hope this helps

Wow. Absolutely fantastic screensaver. Reminds me of the Focus Features splash screen, very relaxing. Thank you so much for making it available!

Very nice effects. Is there any chance of getting support for multiple monitors?

Nice saver, reminds me of some of the scenes in the GioFX series. Great job. Make more...

Hey Mike,
I'm afraid that the language I wrote this in (Blitz3D, a version a BlitzBasic Link) doesn't currently have support for multiple monitors.
