It doesn't seem very consistent at all. I'm not saying I deserve a 4 or 5 (that is reserved only for the skinning pro's) but what do I have to do to get a 3 or 3 1/2. My last few skins have been received well by the downloading majority and I would never call any of my skins ugly. The above bootskin for example has rec'd 400+ downloads in it's 1st day available - not too shabby if I say so myself (yes there have been other's that have kicked it's a$$ download wise) but I would have figured it would have qualified for a 3. Alot of my bootskins use comic superhero fan art (marvel & dc) and they have all turned out well (check out my spiderman & venom bootskins for example), I thought maybe a preference was given to skins using original backgrounds so I spent some decent time working on the above skin and thought it turned out very well, but still only 2 1/2 stars - kind of discouraging in one aspect that the judges don't seem to like it, but I am happy to see that the downloaders did like it. My friend showed me last week that you could change the boot up background & progress bar ( aka the bootskin) and I've been hooked ever since. My first week of creating bootskins and I've rec'd in total over 10000+ downloads for all the bootskins I've created in my first week, that is very exciting that a newbie can create something that others would like so much. Although I'm not hooked on the judging standards (I wish I had some criteria to improve myself upon, I'd love to see a 3 1/2 for one of my skins, I will say that I'm hooked on creating bootskins and this site in general. Maybe I'll try some logon screens soon but right now bootskins are my deal.
