SYMPHONY: Tutorials Needed
n00b here, needs help

Dear Reader:
I'm not sure if I'm new, because I don't quite remember making this account. But, regardless, I am in dire need of help.
Starting this morning, I had a creative breakthrough that supplied me with all I need to create what I wanted. The problem here is this: I have the technology, but not the ability.
Therefore, I would really appriciate any linkage to tutorials on how to create DECENT bootskins, hot to mkae windowblind themes, and also logon screens. It's driving me insane trying to figure it all out, which is mostly because the tutorials I HAVE found don't feel the need to simplify the technological lingo for those who haven't yet learned to understand it!
Of course, some fault does fall on me: I'm rather late coming on to the scene, really.
At any rate, I am trying to make a suite based around this wallpaper image:
