DotNET Framework 2.0 Beta

Uninstall failure!!

Saturday, November 5, 2005 by scorpio-logic | Discussion: Software Development

Okay, I see the Final is out for .NET 2. But see, I got this thing where I can't uninstall the Beta. Safe mode won't let me, you know cuz it doesn't have access to the service needed. So How do I get rid of the Beta and install the Final?? Anyone out there have suggestions equating to positive result? TIA

It's listed in add/remove under 'Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Beta 2'

If that doesn't work for you I have 2 other options that will.

Well, I tried Add/Remove, and in Safe mode. MS's "support" has nothing about uninstall issues, but you definately have to uninstall beta first...

It may be the wrong one. I had support issues before with the framework and they sent me stuff. I'll send the other also.

crap! i can't tell one from the other - they have the same name.
Let me know about the one I sent, then if it doesn't work I'll work on sorting out the other.

Well, no. And I can't find a way to uninstall the damn Beta. Should not have installed it!

the one you sent is a cleaner for .NET Framework 1 and 1.1 sp. I'm still toying with the .NET Framework 2 Beta --->uninstall. I am sure I will find a way to remove it without a clean OS install. I have had to do that before when running betas. I'm gonna bet that since I have MS Indigo, MS OneNote, MS WinFX 3, MS Expression betas at least one of them depends on the .NET 2 Framework. Or could be the OneCareLive or MS AntiSpyware. You would think that I might have enough betas installed, huh? Everything works well, I just wanted to install the final version of .NET Framwork 2 package. Oh well...notch another one up to the learning experience.

Still haven't been able to get the d@mn .NET 2 beta off my box... Oh well, no worries, nothing seems to be messed up so I will go with it until it does, then a CLEAN install of WXP.

contact microsoft update support - that's what i did before. let them know you can't update because you can't uninstall - they'll work it out (just may take a little while)

yepper, did that too, still awaiting reply...you know how their support is. And forget their forums, there you have to sit there waiting for 2 days for a reply....
