And the first result is:
| Your search - french military victories - did not match any documents. Suggestions:. - Make sure all words are spelled correctly. - Try different keywords. |
Hehe, that's a good one.
Reminds me of that old line "You can't get there from here", when being asked for directions to a particular place, usually remote or out in the boondocks, as we used to say.

| What ever happened to respecting those that are in authority? We are fortunate enough to live in a place where we can vote to change things if we don't like them |
Yes we can vote, but things don't change.

oh well, i wouldn't have found out about this except from this forum. like, hey, there's not many surfers who would just search for "failure" or, much less "miserable failure" anyway

Reply #33 Sunday, October 16, 2005 7:51 PM
And I can only see this as a childish prank. Wow, you made George W. Bush look like a failure! Great job. Now go give yourself a pat on the back, i'm sure your friends in sixth grade English will be proud of you. This isn't even funny.
And before you start to say i'm pro-Bush, you can't be farther from the truth. Just because I don't endorse something attacking one guy doesn't mean i'm automatically on that man's side.

I wouldn't say you were pro-bush, but I'd definetly say your humour gland was swollen, you wanna get that looked at

LOL
In other words, it is interesting how the internet is in tune with nerds who live at home with their moms.

In a nutshell, googlebombing works by having a whole bunch of people click on a hyperlink that says "failure" that leads to our favorite president's autobiography. When Google's web crawlers look at the immense traffic from one site that links "failure" to the web page, Google automatically assumes that the word "failure" links to "George W. Bush," and thus, the top result for "failure" is the autobiography of Bush Junior.
As is seen by the later results, Republicans tried to top this by linking "failure" to such Democratic people as Micheal Moore and Jimmy Carter, however the sheer volume of people clicking on that little link is still holding.

We are fortunate enough to live in a place where we can vote to change things if we don't like them. There is no need to slander or mock our Commander in Chief. I am not saying that this thread is doing that, but it does highlight the fact that it is being done. Just my humble opinion. |
remember the 1st amendment. regardless of whether or not I agree, I am still free to parodize, even mock whomever I please. some may say that mockery is the highest form of flattery...

Some recent stories.
As for my unasked for opinion, the president does deserve respect, simply because he holds the position. That does not mean blind lemming agreement with his every statement and policy. We don't elect a dictator then sit back and wait four years to see what happened. I'd bet those who consider critiscism of Bush unpatriotic because "he is the president and deserves respect" were singing a very different tune in 1998.
