| 1 - If you are an ObjectDesktop owner, and you made an archive for IconX in Stardock Central - after uninstalling IconX, you would run Stardock Central and go to "File > Restore archive > select the IconX archive you want > install. |
This is always my 1st try (I auto archive everything just in case).
Been lucky, haven't had to try XP restore yet.

If I ever have to try option 3 - bag the themes, I'll start over.
guilford44 - which version was giving you the fits?
I'm using 1.00a.001 & DesktopX with no problems (been hiding Icons - but let them show to check)

I scanned my hard drive every thing I found even saved themes I deleted
or un-instaled anything to do with the above programs
re-started my computer downloaded both programs installed them
both seem to be working ok

Since no one has answered yet, I will try to be of some assistance, though I do not currently run those programs.
Normally, you would have the following options.
1 - If you are an ObjectDesktop owner, and you made an archive for IconX in Stardock Central - after uninstalling IconX, you would run Stardock Central and go to "File > Restore archive > select the IconX archive you want > install.
2 - If you are running Windows XP, use the System Restore function to restore to the point before installing the update.
3 - If no other option is available, try saving all themes of Stardock programs currently running > deselect any options in Stardock programs to run at start-up, including all widgets > unload all Stardock programs > uninstall IconX > open "My Computer" and go to "Tools > Folder Options > View tab", and select "Show hidden files and folders", then click "Apply" > go to "C:\Documents and Settings\"user account"\Local Settings\Application Data" (where "C" is the letter drive, and "user account" is the name on the account when you are logged on), and delete the "Stardock" folder found there > reboot machine > install IconX > reboot machine > start any Stardock programs you want and load your saved themes.
If all is well, resave your themes to write to cache.
Note - if the DesktopX theme has IconX tied to it in some way, you may want to recreate the theme from scratch (or delete it and reinstall it). The saved theme may contain elements of your current issue.
Just some ideas that may help.
