Trying to eliminate a SHORTCUT ICON,add to OBJECT DOCK, and shortcut keeps showing on DESKTOP.....

Well. I've gotten to another spot I can't figure out. I want to clear out shortcuts on Desktop, that always show, and instead, put on Object Dock. I've changed orignal shortcut label, created Object Dock Shortcut, and still, hard as I may try, I always have a Desktop Shortcut in my face.....I've looked at the options in all screens, and changed what I thought would just "ELIMINATE THE DESKTOP SHORTCUT, AND PUT IN ON OBJECT DOCK. Ladies and Gentleman, I'm out of ideas, not for lack of trying (about 4 hours), I know there is a way, I can't seem to find it on my own. I create a new folder, not a new shortcut....still no luck.............Thanks All

In typing my question, it almost answered itself, in my mind. I had to move file out of DESKTOP (no shortcut folder created), and i completed moving my files. i appreciate the help, I know it will come in handy. I was only moving shortcuts to music (jukebox, WMA, etc) and security (McAfee, IE, etc). I know the drag and drop of files or ... to Object Bar will be of help, I didn't know about that, at all. Of course, I don't know ALOT, but ya know, I'm having fun learning. As it's said, it's not reaching your destination, it's the journey....Thanks alot for your input. I got the "R" in your, my finger forgets that last letter....

It's Atlantis8 again, I just used the drag and drop from desktop shortcut to Object Dock and it's great. I wish I had known earlier, I could have been having fun instead of cleaning up my mess. But I know now, thanks to you, much appreciation!!!

To hide all icons on the desktop, right-click desktop > arrange icons by > deselect "show desktop icons".
To create any folder, program, or drive link on a dock - the easiest way is to open Windows Explorer (WinKey+E) and navigate to the item, then drag it to the dock. If you want to change the image, just right-click the dock item > select Dock Entry properties... > change image button > select an image.
Note - image for dock entry should be placed in the "ObjectDock" program folder (usually in the folder named "Images").
For items that appear in the Start Menu such as Control Panel > just open the Start Menu and drag to dock.
Remember to save your dock theme after setting it up.
If you want to remove individual shortcuts from the desktop such as "My Documents", "My Computer", "My Network Places", and "Internet Explorer" - use the "right-click Desktop > Properties > Desktop tab > Customize Desktop button" and deselect any of those options.
For program shortcuts (all except Outlook or Recycle Bin, both of which have special functions) just delete them - you can always create them later.
Deleting the Recycle Bin is a bad idea (there are other ways to hide it with Group Policies or TweakUI program), and deleting Outlook shortcut will require running the "Detect and Repair function, which will also require the installation disc, to restore the icon.
