Windows Script and having blank white pages....solves the problems but.....

Isnt it funny that you read about fixes on forums, and think "Ill remember that, it just might be useful!" then not too long after, the problems happens to you and you have to put it into practice!!

Well, I have used the Windows script to solve the blank whitepages in system restore and it also solves problems elsewhere as well, but the problem I am having is that the thing does not stay installed. After every reboot, it needs to be reinstalled.

Now, this is a problem that can be lived with, but it is a bit annoying. Has anyone got any ideas of why this is happening and how to solve it?

i have the same issue. it's pretty aggravating, isn't it? if you have norton antivirus, make sure it doesn't have 'enable script blocking' checked in the options dialog.it is checked by default. i unchecked that and the blank pages and constant reinstalling of the windows script engine have stopped, more or less. i still have to install it every now and then but not after every reboot like i was before.

ive had the same problem THREE times now...and every event is after using DesktopX objects/widgets..i also get Norton SystemWorks stuck in refreshing mode (virus scanner not working)...i dont know if its something i'm doing to cause this, but ive given up on Desktopx as a result, I never had this problem arise until 2.19 beta and 3.0 came out...any ideas, let me know.

Turning off the script blocking in Norton Antivirus seems to have done the trick for me (I am using Norton Internet Security). I am not sure about DX3 widgets causing the virus scanner to stop working, but I have issues when running some widgets and the virus scanner preventing them running - again, I think this is due to the script blocking function.

I have DX3 installed, but only have a few widgets and iconX running. Since the widgets have been available, I have not used any actual 'theme' as such. I havent had any problems with Norton at all. I have the 2005 version and it has been running since January - so my system has probably seem a few DX upgrades during that time.

I doubt DX is causing your systemworks problems - I would point the finger of blame at systemworks. To be honest though, I dont know what to suggest apart from re-installing systemworks.
